Our reason for being...

This about page was created right when Hosting Puppy came into being but we took it down. We took it down because it was just another "we love hosting and we love you" page and was therefore worthless fluff. Recently, a potential customer asked us where our About page was and we decided to put it back up. But this time with purpose.

Hosting Puppy was born in February of 2007 to fill a niche in the web hosting market. We launched as a budget host with the slogan "Home of Buck A Gig Hosting". We found a way to offer great hosting and great features for a buck a month. Our long term goal was not to remain a budget host, though. Rather, we entered the market as a budget host in order to gain as many customers in the shortest period of time so we could gain valuable experience hosting. It takes many new hosts years to gain several hundred customers, but we were able to hit that number in less than six months and were able to take that experience and launch a premium level of web hosting which we call Hosting Puppy Pro and Hosting Puppy Gold.

We're keeping the Buck A Gig packages for the foreseeable future, but we now know how to be a great host and our premium packages contain all the features professional customers need. Every Hosting Puppy Pro and Gold website is backed up offline every 12 hours and kept for 30 days. Pro and Gold customers can restore all of a portion of their files from those backups themselves all from an easy to use cPanel icon. Lots of disk space, oodles of bandwidth, tons of sub and add-on domains, and 24/7 support is the name of the game with our Pro and Gold packages.

So there it is. We know hosting, we've learned from real live experience and your site is safe with us. Period.
